Project update: Ocean Grove Changing Places facility

We are pleased to share the latest milestone in the construction of our new Changing Places facility, an accessible and inclusive public amenity designed to support people with high support needs, and their families and carers.

On Friday 2 May, a site meeting was held with our Access Consultant and internal equipment supplier to ensure that all building works meet the strict standards required of a Changing Places facility. The team reviewed architectural plans, confirmed the positioning of key services and structural supports, and held productive discussions to finalise details ahead of the next phase.

With this collaborative planning complete, the project is now progressing to the internal fit-out stage. Plastering and landscaping works are scheduled to commence next week.

This facility, located at Ocean Grove Main Beach, will be equipped with a height-adjustable adult change table, ceiling hoist, privacy screen, and ample space for two carers – ensuring dignity and comfort for people who cannot use standard accessible toilets.

The Changing Places initiative plays a vital role in making our public spaces more equitable and welcoming. Barwon Coast is proud to contribute to this national movement for greater accessibility and inclusion.

Stay tuned for more updates as we move closer to completion.
