NAIDOC Week celebration on the Barwon Coast

Welcome to Country

Barwon Coast invites the community to a very special Welcome to Country, Traditional Smoking Ceremony and Didgeridoo performance.

This is a free, family-friendly event held at Mick’s Steps in Ocean Grove on Monday 8 July 2024 at 10am.

Barwon Coast celebrates NAIDOC Week to recognise and celebrate connection to Country and acknowledge the contribution of the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation (WTOAC).

The Barwon coastal reserves are rich in Aboriginal Cultural Heritage with many sites of significance registered with Aboriginal Affairs Victoria.

The 2024 NAIDOC Week theme is: “keep the fire burning, loud, blak and proud.” This year’s theme celebrates the unyielding spirit of our communities and invites all to stand in solidarity, amplifying the voices that have long been silenced.

We encourage residents and visitors to join us on Country this NAIDOC Week.
