About the role
You will be part of a team who are responsible for carrying out a range of defined property maintenance work, including reactive and proactive programs within Barwon Coast Caravan Parks, Camping Reserves and Coastal Reserves, under routine supervision and direction. The Senior Facilities and Infrastructure Officer will be responsible for: Supporting the Facilities and Infrastructure Coordinator with the strategic planning and implementation of the Facilities and Infrastructure annual and reactive works program, ensuring that Barwon Coast can achieve its priorities in the Coastal and Marine Management Plan 2020 / 2025. Performing routine and preventative maintenance, prioritising emergency repairs. Handling tasks like building upkeep, painting, basic plumbing, minor carpentry, vandalism repairs, cleaning and litter collection and graffiti removal. Conducting asset inspections and audits and managing maintenance needs. Operating and maintaining heavy plant and machinery, ensuring safe and legal usage. Addressing customer requests promptly and escalating urgent issues. Under direction of the Facilities & Infrastructure Coordinator, the Senior Facilities & Infrastructure Officer will assist in the training and supervision of the day-to-day operations of the Facilities & Infrastructure team. To support and mentor the Caravan Park Maintenance Officers and be available for On-Call duties, including attending the caravan parks and the coastal reserves facilities outside of normal business hours. Responsible for seeking quotations and overseeing, engagement of suitably qualified contractors to complete reactive and programmed works.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have: “Hands on” practical maintenance skills. Ability to operate small hand tools. Experience in identifying and resolving minor maintenance issues. Ability to identify customer needs and expectations, decide the appropriate action and respond accordingly. Possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal with people with professionalism, courtesy, tact and understanding. Ability to work in a team, displaying respect for all members and working cooperatively towards planned outcomes. Qualifications and expertise Trade Certificate and or significant experience working in facility management. Driving Licence (essential – preferably manual), Light Truck Licence (desirable). The following Certificates, Front end loader; Chainsaw (desirable). Experience in Building and/or Construction works. Competence in the use of equipment, reading and interpreting plans, specifications and documents is desirable. Some knowledge of relevant building, current building regulations and legislation. Demonstrated experience in liaising with members of the public, being well-presented and friendly and having a strong customer service focus including the ability to manage difficult situations positively.
