Fishing Along the Barwon Coast

Fishing along the coastline is a popular activity and we encourage responsible fishing. The Barwon Bluff Marine Sanctuary is a ‘no take' zone and therefore fishing is not permitted. The Barwon Bluff Marine Sanctuary is managed by Parks Victoria.

A fishing licence is required to fish in all Victorian waters by any person over the age of 18 who does not hold a relevant concession card. Fishing licences can be purchased from.

Barwon Coast takes part in the Seal the Loop Program which is a Zoos Victoria initiative to encourage anglers to dispose of fishing gear responsibly to protect our wildlife. Many birds and marine mammals are all too regularly hooked or entangled by lost or abandoned fishing gear. The injuries caused by fishing gear are often severe and fatal.

Responsible fishing reduces wildlife injuries.
